Women, Peace and Security

 This program is the lungs of Women Concern because it holds the cure for violence against women. We have aligned ourselves with the national action plan for the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolution 1325 on women, peace and security (2nd generation). In addition to compliance with Resolution 1325, our intervention is in line with the New Deal, the guidelines of the African Union’s continental results framework on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda and the AU’s Agenda 2063. as well as the SDGs to which it is linked, the expected results, the activities to be carried out with their intervention actors as well as the key indicators to measure change.

According to the National Action Plan for the implementation of resolution 1325, 3 axes constitute our priority and for each Pillar a few objectives among the eleven of the PAN constitute our specificities:

PILLAR1:PARTICIPATION

Goal 2: Contribute to increasing the participation rate of women and young women to 20% in decision-making bodies of socio-political, economic, public and private institutions

Activities:

  • Awareness campaigns / training
  • advocacy

PILLAR2:PREVENTION

This pillar aims to prevent all forms of violations of the rights of women, young women and girls during and after armed conflicts.

Goal 3: Popularize on a large scale the legal instruments for the promotion of women’s participation in political and public governance and the NAP (national action plan) 1325

Activities:

  • Community awareness and advocacy campaign
  • Creation of media spaces for education and awareness-raising (broadcast and virtual)

Goal 4: Establish community mechanisms for early warning of conflicts and peaceful conflict resolution

Activities:

  • Creation of community early warning networks
  • Popular capacity building training
  • Field studies in conflict zones

Goal 7: Strengthen the control and reduction of the circulation of small arms and light weapons

Activities:

  • Information exchange and advocacy workshop against the proliferation of SALW
  • Community awareness campaign, in particular AGFs Adolescents and young women, in the fight against the proliferation of SALW (Small Arms and Light Weapons)

PILLAR 4: LIFT

Goal 11. Ensure the socio-economic empowerment of women and adolescent girls and young women victims of conflict

Activities:

  • Organization of training sessions on female entrepreneurship
  • Support women and adolescents and young women with empowerment kits
